October 02, 2014 – During the year, many Cross-Country skiers have changed their marital status or became parents. FIS Cross-Country News brings you a short overview. Devon Kershaw and his then girlfriend Kristin Stoermer Steira of the Norwegian team got engaged this past spring during a getaway high up in the mountains of Nepal.
French skiers Maurice Manificat and Jean-Marc Gaillard became fathers. On 31st August Manificat’s son Ethan was born. One month earlier Gaillard became father of Lois. Their compatriot Coraline Hugue got married last week to Clément Thomas.
In June, Olympic bronze medalist Iliya Chernousov and Swiss biathlete Selina Gasparin got married. Last week the young couple announced they are expecting a baby. Other Russian skiers had important moments this year. Dimitry Japarov and Maria Gushina celebrated their marriage in July. Nikita Kriukov got married and little Veronica was born in April. Also Maxim Vylegzhanin became father to the son Artem in July.
On Saturday 26th July Norwegian skier Oeystein Pettersen married Ellen Sandbaken. On Easter Saturday Marcus Hellner (SWE) and his partner Anna Tjuoiki became parents of a baby girl.
Silver medalist Krista Lähteenmäki got married in the summer and became Krista Pärmäkoski.
