USA’s Sean Doherty Takes Home 14th in Front of Home Crowd at Soldier Hollow – Canada’s Gow 17th

February 15, 2019 (Soldier Hollow, Utah) – The USA’s Sean Doherty claimed 14th in the men’s 10km sprint on Friday with one penalty finishing at 1:3.6 off the winning time of Norway’s Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen, who shot clean to earn his first-ever World Cup victory.

Canada’s Scott Gow was 17th also with one missed target at 1:13.8 back. France’s Simon Desthieux in second, also with one penalty, took home his first podium of the season at 1.3 seconds behind. Germany’s Roman Rees, with an outstanding last loop, earned his first career podium in third place with one penalty at 22.4 seconds behind Christiansen.

“I am very happy with this race today,” said Doherty who raced to his second best of the season. “The wind conditions were highly variable, but we had a good handle on the wind in the zero and then I just tried to be smooth. It was fun to have a nice home crowd here,” continued Doherty. It’s cool to have so many people excited about the World Cup here. Now I’m looking forward to hunting people down in the pursuit.”
