Eastern Canadian Championships – Provincial and Club Results

provided by CCC

February 10, 2007 (Gatineau, QC) – The Eastern Canadian Championships recorded record participation levels over the weekend of February 3 & 4 in Gatineau. Hosted by Club Skinouk, over 600 participants started the mass start events on Sunday, an increase of 50 over the previous year hosted by Nakkertok Ski Club.

“It was a great team effort to organize these events,” said Pierre Millette, Co-president of the Organizing Committee and Communication Director for Club Skinouk. The races attracted skiers from Manitoba through to Newfoundland and provided a good test for skiers and support staff in preparation for the National Championships which are scheduled for late March in Quebec City.

The Eastern Canadian Championships have rotated between Club Skinouk and Nakkertok Ski Club for the past three seasons. Both clubs are centrally situated between Quebec and Ontario. The event doubles as Ontario and Quebec Cups in addition to Ontario University selection races.

To simulate the National Championships and to encourage participation, Club and Divisional Aggregate Points are tabulated over the two days of racing. Ontario won the provincial aggregate crown while Skielite was crowned top club at the 2007 event. For a complete summary of Club Aggregate points click here.
