February 2, 2008 (Craftsbury, VT) – Mother Nature taunted the 720 competitors in the TD Banknorth Craftsbury Marathon but in the end provided fantastic cover for this great 45km point to point course. Overnight mixed precipitation of over a Å“ inch of ice made for tricky kick waxing but very fast glide. 190 Volunteers helped make this race a great success!

The Men’s 50km race was a battle with Jon Arne Enevoldsen taking the win (2:32:09) in a final 300m sprint with Justin Freeman finishing second (2:32:12), Ian Case finished third in 2:33:25. The Women’s 50km race finish led off with in Carina Hamel winning in 2:52:24 then Dorcas Wonsavage taking second (2:54:31) and Anna McLoon finishing third in 2:58:50.

The 25km Race top three was filled with Junior skiers Noah Brautigam, David Sinclair and Doug DeBold. Sarah Moore, Margie Prevot, and Gretchen Czaja were the respective top three women’s race finishers.

This event is part of the prestigious American Ski Marathon Series and the New England Marathon Series. It has been proclaimed by the State Chamber of Commerce as one of the “Top Ten 2007 Winter Events in Vermont.”

After the finish all participants are treated to a hearty post race meal. The top three racers in each class are awarded locally handcrafted pitchers. Special pins will be awarded to racers within 25% of age class winner’s time. All tourers are awarded a commemorative pin.
