Erik Bjornsen Defends Men’s 50km FR Crown at 2019 L.L. Bean U.S. Cross Country Nationals

April 02, 2019 (Presque Isle, Maine) – APU’s Erik Bjornsen raced to victory in the men’s 50km Freestyle competition as the Winthrop, Wash., skier defended his title as the 2019 L.L. Bean U.S. Cross Country Championships wrapped up in Presque Isle, Maine on Tuesday.

His teammate, David Norris, claimed the silver while Simi Hamilton (SMS T2 Elite Team Rocket Ship) took home the bronze. Canadian Philippe Boucher (CNEPH) was the fastest U23 skier in the field with Zak Ketterson from Northern Michigan University the top American U23 skier.

Gus Schumacher (Alaska Winter Stars) won the Junior Men’s 30km FR race with Luke Jager (APU Nordic Ski Center) in second and Canadian Kai Meekis (NTDC Tbay) in third. American Reid Goble (Michigan Technological University) was 4th fastest skier to cross the line.
