May 12, 2010 (Canmore, Alberta) – Carrying on the excitement of this past ski season, Fast and Female presented by Best Buy will host its first FIT & FUN Challenge of the dryland season this Sunday (May 16) in Canmore, Alberta. The two-hour event will run from 10am-12pm in parallel to the Rocky Mountain Soap Company Run for Women.

The deadline to register for the event is Saturday, May 15 at noon and the entry fee is $20 which includes a free t-shirt valued at $35. This event is made possible thanks to the generous contributions of Best Buy, Cold-FX, the Jokabeca Foundation, The Garage Sale, Lululemon, Buff, and Cross-Country Canada.

Intently focused on providing enriching growth opportunities for young girls year-round, Fast and Female presented by Best Buy now shifts its focus to spring/summer events. The upcoming event will be led by Olympic Biathlete Rosanna Crawford and Elite Cross-Country Skier Sarah Daitch and will feature two hours of ski-specific dryland training at the Canmore Nordic Centre.

Founded in 2005 by Olympic Gold Medalist in Cross-Country Skiing, Chandra Crawford, Fast and Female presented by Best Buy delivers innovative programming for female youth between the ages of 9 to 19 years old.

“Bringing girls together in the off-season is just as important as on snow. Fast and Female is about facilitating as many opportunities as possible throughout the year for young girls to be active in a stimulating and positive environment,” said Chandra Crawford, Fast and Female founder and two-time Olympian in Cross-Country skiing.

This 2009-2010 season was Fast and Female presented by Best Buy’s busiest ever with over 800 young girls participating in Fast and Female events throughout the country in Labrador West (NL), Canmore (AB), Chelsea (QC), Hardwood (ON), Yellowknife (NWT), and Burns Lake (BC) with international events in Alaska and Maine (USA). The 2010 Annual Ski Festival was held in March in Whitehorse, (YK).
