Final Countdown to Select the Organizer of the 2016/2017 Nordic World Championships

May 05, 2012 – This Tuesday marked the start of the one-month countdown to the election of the organizers of the FIS Nordic World Championships in 2016/2017. The election by the FIS Council will take place on May 31, 2012 at the High1 Resort in Kangwonland with the results announced during a reception around 18:30 evening time in South Korea which is approximately 11:30 CET (time difference +7h) – the announcement ceremony will be streamed live on the FIS websites.

There are a total of eight candidates for the 2016/2017 World Championships: four for the Nordic Events: Lahti (FIN), Oberstdorf (GER), Planica (SLO) and Zakopane (POL); three for the Alpine events: Are (SWE), Cortina d’Ampezzo (ITA), and St Moritz (SUI), one combined candidacy for the Freestyle Ski and Snowboard events: Sierra Nevada (SPA) and one for the 2016 Ski Flying event: Kulm (AUT).
