Finnish Doping Scandals Reopened as Prosecutor Charges Rasanen and Three Former Finnish Officials

October 28, 2010 (Helsinki, Finland) – As reported yesterday Finland’s prosecutor, Mikko Jaatinen, has proceeded to charge former top xc skier Jari Rasanen and former Finnish Ski Association officials Pekka Vahasoyrinki, Antti Leppavuori, and Jari Piirainen. The case reopens the doping scandals that have plagued the country dating back even prior to the famous Lahti Six in 2001 when six Finnish cross-country skiers tested positive for banned substances at the Lahti World Championships.
