FIS Congress Day 2 – Canada’s Maddox Recognized

release by FIS XC
June 02, 2010 (Antalya, Turkey) – The second meeting day is over and we had some very interesting discussion. On the schedule were the Sub Committees Rules & Control, Popular racing and World Cup. In the morning the rules were under the eye of various expert and a couple of minor changes were done, as well the TD and their role was discussed and the officials were named for the next World Cup year and as well the big events in the future.

Unfortunately I couldn’t be present at the Popular Committee meeting as we had two meetings parallel on this morning but what I heard so far, they had a successful meeting as well with detailed discussions on the calendar, FIS points in FIS Marathon races and a couple of rules discussions.

Right now, we concluded the World Cup Sub-Committee meeting. Thanks to an excellent work of the group around Tiit Pekk, they will present tomorrow a good proposal of the World Cup Calendar 2010/2011 to our Cross-Country Committee. The Cross-Country Committee will have their meeting tomorrow morning, reviewing all the decisions which were taken during the past two days in the Cross-Country Sub Committees and making the final proposals of the most important decisions for the FIS Council.

A special thanks I would like to say to our friend Al Maddox, who was a representative in our Committees since 35 years and now leaving them. Al, you did a great job all the year’s. Many thanks!

Talk to you soon,
Yours Vegard Ulvang
FIS Cross Country Chairman
