FIS Cross-Country Summer Inspections in Full Swing

release by FIS
July 21, 2013 – Summer is in full swing and so are the summer inspections of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup venues of the 2013/14 season. “On site summer inspections are very important for the preparation for the upcoming season. Not only we can check various aspects of organisation but also we update the Organising Committees about latest changes and requirements. For us it is important to stay in touch with our organizers also during the off-season,” said Sandra Spitz, Event Coordinator Cross-Country.

Until now the FIS crew has visited a number of new FIS Cross-Country World Cup hosts including Lenzerheide (SUI) and Lillehammer (NOR), the Winter Olympic Games host of Sochi and venues that are back in the calendar after a one-year break: Szklarska Poreba (POL) and Nove Mesto na Morave (CZE).

“We are satisfied about the inspections so far. All Organisers we have visited are very enthusiastic and working hard to be ready for the winter. I am happy about the close cooperation we have established between FIS, the Organising Committees, FIS Marketing and the host broadcasters,“ commented Pierre Mignerey, FIS Cross-Country Race Director.

Throughout summer the FIS Cross-Country team will be visiting all FIS Cross-Country World Cup venues. The inspections will continue in August with the other FIS Tour de Ski venues and World Cup Organisers of Lahti and Kuusamo.

The inspection schedule will be coming to an end in September in Scandinavia with the traditional resorts of Drammen, Oslo and Finals in Falun.
