FIS Grand Prix in Summer Ski Jumping – Courchevel, Einsiedeln and Bischofsgruen

release by FIS

August 19, 2010 – The FIS Grand Prix in Ski Jumping continued in Courchevel (FRA) and Einsiedeln (SUI) last weekend. Both competitions saw the same winner, Daiki Ito (JPN), who clearly enjoyed the special event atmosphere on Friday night in Courchevel. Already very satisfied with his first victory, Ito continued his winning ways in difficult wind conditions in Switzerland on Sunday when the winners had to be declared after the first round. “It was very windy, so maybe it was not a very fair competition and I’m glad that the second round was cancelled,” he commented.

The Polish team also continued its impressive performances, with Hinterzarten winner Adam Malysz taking 4th in Courchevel and 2nd in Einsiedeln, and teammate Maciej Kot finishing 3rd, his first career podium. Dawid Kubacki completed the great team result for Poland in seventh.

After three events, Daiki Ito leads the FIS GP overall ranking, just 10 points ahead of Malysz. Poland clearly leads the Nation’s Cup ranking as the team of head coach Lukasz Kruczek prepares for the premiere of Wisla, home town of Adam Malysz, on the FIS GP calendar this weekend.

Meanwhile, the ladies’ Continental Cup summer series got underway in Bischofsgruen (GER). The wins in the first two competitions went to Jenna Mohr (GER) and just 16-year-old Sarah Hendrickson (USA). After the weekend’s competitions, Hendrickson leads the overall rankings as the summer series continues in Oberwiesenthal (GER) on August 20th and 21st.
