FIS: History of Women’s XC Skiing

June 15, 2010 – FIS has published a document detailing the history of women’s XC skiing and the formation of the FIS Women’s Cross-Country Committee in 1965, which became the Sub-Committee for Ladies Cross-Country in 1983. The purpose of the sub-committee was aimed to cover women’s cross-country skiing in general; women’s participation in the sport as athletes, trainers and leaders, technical questions etc. The goal was to develop women in the sport of cross-country skiing at all levels in all countries where skiing was possible.
