FIS NCombined Lahti – Moan Wins, Lamy-Chappuis Secures Overall Title

by skitrax.com

March 05, 2010 (Lahti, FIN) – After a disappointing Olympics where he was sick and unable to train, Norway’s Magnus Moan came back to win the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup in Lahti, Finland on Friday.  He sprinted ahead of Finland’s, Hannu Manninen to win by 2.3 seconds.  Germany’s Tino Edelmann was 3rd at 7.2 seconds behind Moan.  France’s Jason Lamy-Chappuis’ 10th place finish was enough to secure him the crystal globe as overall Nordic combined World Cup champion for 2009/10 season – not back in France since Fabrice Guy won in 1992.

The U.S. team gave its younger team members a taste of World Cup competition. Taylor Fletcher and Nick Hendrickson, Alex Miller and Bryan Fletcher placed 43rd and 44th, 50th and 51st respectively.
