by skitrax.com

June 20, 2012 – For Nordic Combined, the World Cup calendars for the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons will contain a full calendar of events. The coming season will see a World Cup event in Turkey for the first time in the city of Erzurum. This is the second season in a row where Nordic Combined is presenting a new nation for the World Cup circus after Almaty (KAZ) in the 2011/12 season.

The Nordic Combined Committee’s proposals were all confirmed by the FIS Council. The main decisions included new rules for the penalty race where the jumping will be conducted as Gundersen format jumping and the number of penalty laps will be determined based on point differences. The new jumping suit rules (common with Ski Jumping) also apply to Nordic Combined.

In addition, Infront Sports & Media presented positive TV numbers for last season with the peaks of the season taking place during weeks one and eight.

Through the Nordic Coordination Group, a good cooperation between cross-country Skiing, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined is building up and concrete plans for the future are underway.
