September 1, 2009 (Warren, NH) – On Sunday, August 30th, the Ford Sayre Junior Nordic team organized a time trail up Mount Moosilauke in Warren, NH. Ford Sayre athletes were joined by those from Dartmouth College, Colby College, the Craftsbury Green Racing Project (GRP), and the Craftsbury Small Boat Training Center (SBTC, parallel to the GRP, but for rowers).

Competitors were thrilled to have good weather for the run, especially after a cold and rainy Saturday the day before. While parts of the trail were muddy, it held up remarkably well and there wasn’t much sliding around. Once the trail popped out above treeline, it seemed like just another beautiful, sunny fall day in the White Mountains. After the race nearly everyone took a “swim” in the chilly Baker River, and the cold water was great for tired legs.

GRP racers Tim Reynolds (40:54) and Hannah Dreissigacker (47:15) took the overall titles, followed by their teammates in second place. But junior racers were close behind. Paco DeFrancis of Ford Sayre led all juniors with a time of 44:12, finishing third overall, and Ford Sayre J2 Noah Williams had an excellent run to finish fourth overall in 45:12. Rosalie Lipfert of Ford Sayre, who is about to head to Dartmouth for her freshman trip, led junior girls in 53:49.
