March 24, 2009 (Vienna, Austria) – Disgraced Austria Nordic Ski coach Walter Mayer, who was involved in the 2006 Torino Olympics doping scandal, has been arrested in connection with new doping allegations connected to a positive test for EPO by a top Austrian cyclist reports AFP.

The cyclist has not been named but was arrested recently for trafficking. It’s the first charge of its kind for an athlete after Austrian lawmakers passed a law on August 8, 2008 which calls for a 5-year sentence for possession and trafficking of doping substances.
