Former Nakkertok XC Skier Sets Canadian Rowing Record – Support His Quest for Gold

August 31, 2014 (Ottawa, ON) – Former national-level cross-country skier, Andrew Stewart-Jones, from the Nakkertok Nordic club is making big waves in the world of rowing after setting a new Canadian record and beating the results of all of the guys on the Canadian silver medal team. According to Rowing Athlete Development and Ranking (RADAR), the five-test system that the Canadian rowing world uses to rank their athletes, Stewart-Jones is at a remarkable level of fitness and technique.

“Skiing taught me the importance of technique,” he explained to SportsOttawa.com. “I know how to analyze it and I know how to pick it up. I watched videos for skiing and now I watch them for rowing. I know exactly what I have to do.”

Now Stewart-Jones, 22, who’s younger brother Patrick skis on the national team, is crowd funding to Help me row to Gold at World University Championships and he’s already hit $2,345.00 of the $2,150 he was looking for… 109%.
