November 26, 2013 (Whitehorse, YK) – Alain Masson, 52, will be inducted into the Yukon Sport Hall of Fame at the Sport Yukon Awards Night on Thursday, November 28, at 6:30pm at the Westmark Hotel in Whitehorse. Masson has provided unparalleled leadership in developing cross-country skiing in the Yukon.
His dedication to coaching athletes is manifested in the significant number of high calibre national and international skiers who call Yukon home.
Following a distinguished career as an athlete that included three Olympic appearances as a skier and a cyclist, Masson joined Cross Country Yukon as head coach and Sport Coordinator in 1996. One of his proudest accomplishments was coaching an unprecedented five Yukon athletes to spots on the sixteen-member Team Canada at the 2012 World Junior & U23 Championships.
