November 1, 2008 (Manchester, Great Britain) – Canada’s Tara Whitten – a former National Cross Country Team member and a sprint silver medalist at the 2003 Under-23 World Nordic Championships – took the silver behind Great Britain’s Wendy Houvenaghel in the women’s Individual Pursuit for a fabulous start to the season on Day One of the first round of the UCI Track World Cup in Manchester. We believe Whitten’s qualification time of 3:36.998 (49.770 km/hr) sets a new Canadian record – to be confirmed shortly. Thanks to Doug Cameron for alerting us to this.
