France and Norway Win IBU World Cup Team Relays in Ruhpolding – Canadian Women 12th

January 19, 2019 (Ruhpolding, GER) – Canada’s Sarah Beaudry, Emma Lunder, Megan Bankes and Rosanna Crawford had two penalties and used 13 spares en route to 12th while the U.S. women’s team of Susan Dunklee, Clare Egan, Joanne Reid and Emily Dreissigacker suffered five penalties and used 16 spares to finish 16th in the 4×6-kilometer women’s relay at Ruhpolding.

Egan turned in the fastest ski time among the 22 teams on the first leg. Aided by a clean prone round, she was among the lead group that included Italy’s Dorothea Wierer.

The French team of Julia Simon, Anais Bescond, Justine Braisaz and Anais Chevalier won the women’s relay with just four spare rounds in 1:09:27.7. Norway finished second with seven spares, 11.5 seconds back. Germany was third with nine spares, 23.4 seconds behind France.

The day prior in the men’s 4×7.5km relay Team Canada’s Scott and Christian Gow, Jules Burnotte and Brendan Green suffered one penalty and used 12 spares finishing 16th as was the US squad of Leif Nordgren, Sean Doherty, Travis Cooper and Max Durtschi had one penalty and used 13 spares placing 17th.

Johannes Thingnes Boe anchored his Norwegian team of Lars Helge Birkeland, Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen and Tarjei Boe to victory in the men’s relay. The Norwegian team used eight spare rounds, finishing in 1:09:54.3. Germany took second place with six spares, 13.5 seconds back, while France, with nine spares, finished third, 26.2 seconds behind Norway.
