Employment Opportunity: Full Time Assistant Coach Position – NDC Thunder Bay

May 10, 2012 (Thunder Bay, ON) – NDC Thunder Bay is seeking a skilled, enthusiastic Assistant Coach to lead our organization into the future. Operating out of Thunder Bay, Ontario, a community renowned for its support of and involvement in cross-country skiing, the Assistant Coach will deliver appropriate services to a team of high performance, highly motivated athletes (LTC – TTC – TTW). The goal of NDC Thunder Bay is to provide a training environment that allows athletes to develop their potential to qualify for Cross Country Canada’s National Ski Team (CCC, NST). This is a full-time, 12 month contract position renewable on an annual basis. The Assistant Coach reports to the Head Coach in collaboration with the volunteer Board of Directors. Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Understanding and implementation of the LTAD model Coaching and/or competitive experience in cross country skiing at the provincial and national level (preferred) Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver a successful training and racing program Commitment to on-going professional development and training Strong organization, oral and written communication skills Personable, mature, and ability to motivate Familiarity with standard business software, use of spreadsheets, and willingness to learn Dartfish Ski preparation, ski composition knowledge and waxing expertise Experience planning, scheduling, and making travel arrangements for team F Class drivers license Member of the Coaches Association of Ontario.

RESPONSIBILITES:

This full-time coaching position serves as an assistant to the head coach to help with the implementation of a comprehensive training and competition program for the National Development Centre – Thunder Bay with the main goal of putting athletes onto the National Team. There will be some shared responsibilities with the head coach based on the need for parallel programs as defined by the age, ability, and development of the team and commitments of the National Ski Team and the National Talent Squad to improve provincial standings. In conjunction with the NDC head coach, the assistant coach will provide the framework, services and positive training atmosphere that will benefit the development of the Centre’s athletes. These responsibilities will be supported and monitored under the general direction of the National Development Centre (NDC) Board of Directors and the NDC Head Coach.
