Gasparin Takes IBU World Cup Women’s Sprint in Annecy – Canada’s Crawford 26th

December 14, 2013 (Annecy-Le Grand Bornand, France) – Canada’s Rosanna Crawford lead the North Americans in 26th at 57.72s with one penalty as Selina Gasparin (SUI) took her second career victory this morning in the women’s 7.5km sprint in France with shooting clean and a time of 20:51.4.

In second was former overall series winner, Kaisa Mäkäräinen from Sweden, with one penalty at 8.3s to claim her first podium this season. Valj Semerenko (UKR) finished third also with one penalty another 3s behind Mäkäräinen. Skiers were treated to clear and windless conditions with cool temperatures around freezing as six out of the top 10 shot clean.

Megan Imrie followed Crawford in 40th with two penalties at 1:26.4, Zina Kocher was 45th with three penalties, and Megan Heinicke was 50th also with three penalties.

For the USA Susan Dunklee was 60th w/four penalties, Annelies Cook was 62nd with two penalties, Sara Studebaker from Boise, ID, placed 76th suffering three penalties as did Hannah Dreissigacker in 77th.

The Canadians along with Dunklee qualified for Sunday’s pursuit which sees the top 60 skiers advance.
