German Sweep at Biathlon World Cup

Canada's Zina Kocher is 36th

March 11, 2007 (Holmenkollen, Norway) – Three German flags were raised above the podium Saturday, in the women’s 10-kilometre pursuit race at the Biathlon World Cup, in Holmenkollen, Norway. Magdalena Neuner secured her fourth victory of the season, with teammates Andrea Henkel and Kati Wilhelm flanking her on either side of the podium.

It was an extremely tight race, coming down to a sprint for the finish between Neuner and Henkel. Despite three shooting errors, Neuner managed to come out with the win, in a time of 31 minutes 58.73 seconds, just 0.6 seconds ahead of Henkel. Wilhelm crossed the line for the bronze medal +26.9 seconds off the winning pace set by her teammate.

Zina Kocher hit the start line as the lone Canadian racing for the day. The Red Deer, Alta. native shot clean during both prone sessions, but struggled with four shooting errors in the standing bouts, costing her precious time in the penalty loop. Kocher finished the day in 36th-place, +4:40.9 behind Neuner.
