Great Glen Trails Opens for the 2007/2008 Winter Season

December 5, 2007 (Pinkham Notch, NH) – On Tuesday, December 4, 2007, Great Glen Trails opened for the 2007/2008 winter season. Great Glen Trails will be open daily from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. for cross country skiing, snow tubing and snowshoeing.

Thanks to the storm that moved across the country, Great Glen Trails received 16-18 inches of new snow allowing the Outdoor Center to open all 40 km of trails. Great Glen Trails has groomed 12 km of trails for skate skiing. Tracks will be set for classic skiing later in the day.

One of the few cross country ski areas with snowmaking capabilities, Great Glen Trails has also made snow this week on its teaching area to provide a great surface for ski lessons. Great Glen Trails will continue to make snow throughout the early season ensuring good conditions.

On Saturday, December 8, Great Glen Trails hosts the first Nordic ski race of the season in New England, the Atomic Sprints at Great Glen. More than 100 racers from high school to masters are expected to compete in this exciting sprint race format.
