March 22, 2012 (Mont Ste-Anne, QC) – Alex Harvey and Chandra Crawford started Day 5 in control of the 1.4km FR Sprint competition at the Haywood Ski Nationals and never looked back fending off all challengers on their way to 2012 Canadian Sprint Titles. For Harvey it was his second gold of the Championships as defending champ Len Valjas (last year the sprint was classic and it was Valjas’ first National title) finished 4th, while Devon Kershaw grabbed the silver and Philip Widmer the bronze.

For Crawford it as her first 2012 crown as defending champ (classic) Daria Gaiazova, who won last year in Canmore, was second with the USA’s Jennie Bender in third but the bronze title went to Alysson Marshall who was the third best Canuck in sixth overall. The last Canadian sprint title won by Crawford, the 2006 Olympic gold medalist, was at the 2010 Nationals in Whitehorse, Yukon, where the sprint was freestyle and Gaiazova was second as well –
