January 7, 2007 (Rossland, B.C.) – Yesterday, as a result of leading in points, Dave Nighbor and Brittany Webster were entitled to wear the red bibs in the sprints. Nighbor is dominating the men’s racing so far. Both the men’s and the women’s races were very close and provided great intensity right until the finish line.

Madshus, one of the Continental Cup and NorAm series sponsors, put up $100 to the two fastest qualifiers in the sprints on Saturday. The winners were Dave Nighbor and Christine Bisson. According to the teams competing from the East the skiing conditions at Black Jack are superb. Back in Ontario they are roller skiing today because there is not enough snow.

Everyone is welcoming the snow conditions at Black Jack for the competitions. Winds of over 90km per hour last night blew down four of seven wax tents and volunteers were madly re-erecting them at 7am this morning.

Once again we could not hold these races without our volunteers. They are an integral part of this process. Thanks to all of our volunteers!

Computer problems slowed the little kids racing down over in Richie’s Field but this problem was rectified and the kids races proceeded with great results. It has been wonderful to watch the caliber of racing we have been seeing here at Black Jack this weekend. Thanks, racers!
