August 6, 2009 (Canmore, AB) – There’s great xc skiing and great biking at the Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park. The Highline Trail Grand Opening will take place on Saturday, August 8, in Canmore, Alberta. Guided hikes and mountain bike rides will leave Quarry Lake parking lot at 12:00 noon. A grand opening ceremony will take place at the “Big Rock”, located on the West Connector of the Highline Trail at 13:00. Later in the afternoon, join volunteers, staff and supporters at Rebound Cycle for a Barbeque (16:00).

The grand opening event is to celebrate the completion of work on this new trail in Canmore, but also to recognize the effort and dedication of the volunteers who contributed to getting the trail open. Volunteers were integral to the planning, approval and construction of the trail.

The Highline Trail is approximately 8 km long but has a significant amount of elevation gain. It takes about an hour to run or mountain bike from end to end.
