by skitrax.com
January 14, 2008 (Predazzo, Italy) – Norway’s Tom Hilde came into the weekend with no World Cup ski jumping victories and he headed out of town Sunday night with two wins – and fourth place in the e.on Ruhrgas World Cup standings.

After winning Saturday night in the rainy one-jump competition, Hilde unloaded a 128.5-metre jump on the final round that, coupled with Thomas Morgenstern’s rocky second jump, gave Hilde the win. Hilde, fourth in the first round of jumping, had 253.4 points for his 124.5 and 128.5-metre jumps.

Morgenstern, who won seven of the first eight World Cups this season and hasn’t won one in five events, was second. He had 247.7 points on jumps of 128.5 and 120.5 metres. Third place went to Anders Jacobsen, another Norwegian. No North Americans competed.

Janne Ahonen of Finland, who was fourth, moved into second place behind Morgenstern in the overall standings. The Austrian has 1,070 points after 13 meets with Ahonen second at 710. Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austrian is third with 707.
