Intro to Performance Clinic at Trapp Family Lodge – Report, Photos

release by NENSA
December 13, 2010 (Stowe, VT) – It was old home week at Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT as a good portion of the New England Nordic community was there to enjoy the great conditions. Around 60k of groomed trails were available for skiing today and there were a lot of people there to enjoy it!

Today was the first day of the Introduction to Performance Skiing and Racing Clinic and 55 participants gathered to learn about skiing technique from some of the region’s top instructors. Participants moved through four different clinic sessions from basic classic technique, to uphill/downhill skills, to basic skate skills. The day was punctuated by a fabulous lunch in the dining room: sandwiches, soups, cookies, and plenty of coffee to go around.

Day 2

Participants of the second day in the Introduction to Performance Clinic at Trapp Family Lodge were greeted with the pleasant surprise of snow upon their arrival at the Ski Center around 9am. Where it was raining in most other parts of Vermont, Trapps was a winter wonderland with nice fluffy flakes falling until mid-day.

Skiers began the day with two sessions of “Ski the Terrain” in both skate and classic, learning how to transition between different sections of trail and how to efficiently and effectively ski the course well. After another fine lunch in the Trapp Dining Room, participants returned to their choice of stations and got to pick what technique they wanted to work on for the remainder of the afternoon.

Plenty of happy and tired smiles as people changed their clothes and got in their cars for their trek home.
