IOC Notified of Positive Doping Tests by WADA before Games Begin

February 11, 2010   (Vancouver, BC) – More than 30 athletes are reported to have tested positive in doping controls  and were “… prevented from coming to the Games because of positive tests” according to a DPA report on Yahoo. At an IOC meeting in Vancouver the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) presented the numbers which are “… based on notifications received by WADA from international federations and national anti-doping organizations in the weeks leading up to the Games.”

The report indicates that two days before the opening of the Games a total of 554 drugs samples – 407 urine and 147 blood – have been tested but here have been no positive tests. More than 800 athletes will be tested before their competitions and over 2,000 doping controls will be conducted during the Games. – read the full story here.
