Italy’s Pietro Piller Cottrer: Road to Oslo 2011 Begins

release by FIS XC

May 03, 2010 – It was a long season for Italy’s Pietro Piller Cottrer from Sappada. It ended as late as March 28 – after the Veissemann World Cup XC finals he took part in national races and Piller Cottrer has also been the focus of the Italian media recently. “I had a lot of press conferences and ceremonies all over Italy during April. I am very happy about it as it shows interest in cross-country skiing in Italy,” he told fiscrosscountry.com.

“I am satisfied with the season and happy with the media interest. A silver Olympic medal, two second places at World Cup races are mirrors of my success,” he added.

Vacation on Maldives
But it was not all about work for Piller Cottrer. Before start of his summer preparation he found time for holidays with his family. “We chose the Maldives. We were there for nine days and did nothing but pure relaxing,” smiled Pietro.

Back to Training
As May begins it’s time for Piller Cottrer to get back to his training routine and start preparing for next season with two highlights – the Tour de Ski and then the Nordic World Championships in Oslo. His program for upcoming days is clear: “I will start running and biking. I also have to include time in the gym in my training sessions. It has been the same every season. The good thing about it is that I do not have to go anywhere – I can train at home in Sappada”.
