We are the largest private supporter of high performance sport in Canada and are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s participation in the Olympic Movement including five multi-sport Games including the Olympic, Olympic Winter and Pan American Games.

Position: Executive Director, Games

The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is seeking an accomplished Executive Director, Games with a true passion for performance and organizational excellence. Based in Montreal and reporting to the Chief Sport Officer, the incumbent will build on the success of the COC’s current Games Preparation and Games Missions programs by deepening and strengthening internal and external partnerships and driving efficiency and effectiveness of the organization in these areas.

Core Responsibilities and Priorities

*   Develop a system that identifies, monitors and addresses Olympic Team/NSFs (National Sport Federations) issues with the appropriate entity including: NSFs, OTP (Own The Podium), SC (Sport Canada), SDRCC (Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada), CSIs/CSCs (Canadian Sport Institutes & Centres), CCES (Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport), other Multi-Sport Organizations such as CPC (Canadian Paralympic Committee), etc.
* Work with the COC Executive Directors to develop and execute efficient and effective Games Management tools in the areas of IT, Information Management, Budgeting, planning, etc.
*      Work with the Executive Director, Sport and other COC Executive Directors to optimize collaboration and integration both within the Sport Department and across all COC Departments
*    Develop and execute an international benchmarking plan in the areas of Games preparation and Games Missions
*    Take a lead role in collaborating with partner organizations to ensure a cohesive approach to optimal Games readiness for athletes, coaches, NSFs and other team members
*       Assess ROI of all COC programs/services impacting at-Games performance in order to ensure a conversion rate that is amongst the best in the world
*      Lead the procurement and monitoring of major COC purchases/rentals such as accommodation for the organization
*  Develop and lead the communication of pertinent information between the COC and its Games stakeholders ensuring that it is done in a timely manner (eg. Post-test events or COC site visits, post-Olympic Qualification)
*       Monitor Organizing Committee Bid Promises against what is being delivered
*      Lead the integration of all Games and Team Services working in collaboration with Directors, Games and Director, Team Services
* Oversee Games planning to ensure on track and optimal Games delivery
*   Create and implement training, orientation and succession planning for Chefs de Mission.
*       Support Chief Sport Officer in any and all Games, Sport or other matters

Qualifications and Critical Skills
*     Minimum 8 years of senior management experience in international multi-sport Games environment;
*        A post-secondary education in a sport-related field;
*   A proven record of leading a multi-disciplinary team;
*  Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in English and French;
*      Analytical, organizational and management abilities combined with outstanding team building and leadership skills;
*     Self-motivated with a superior work ethic;
*     A high energy level and a commitment to and passion for Sport, Games, the COC and its Vision;

Compensation:
