Job Opportunity – CCC Temporary Wax Technician for NST Scandinavian Cup and Lahti World Cup

CCCDecember 02, 2013 (Canmore, AB) – Cross Country Canada, the National Sport Organization for cross-country skiing in Canada, is currently seeking a seasonal employee in the role of apprentice wax technician with the National Ski Team. This position is designed to be part of a dynamic high performance team that is totally committed to developing and sustaining Canada’s international excellence in cross-country skiing.

The position: The NST Wax Technician is a team support position that will involve ski preparation and race support skills for the Scandinavian Cup Tour and Lahti World Cup trip under the direction of the trip leader.

Term: Seasonal position, Feb.9, 2014 – March 3, 2014

General Responsibilities. These include but are not limited to the following:

· Executing base preparation, waxing and testing programs for training and racing;
· Ensuring that all equipment and waxes required to support race day ski preparation and testing are on location and operable;
· Maintaining a working knowledge of the operation of all NST equipment and the ability to perform simple field maintenance;
· Providing other race support, including splits and feeds;
· Ensuring the proper packing of equipment, and its safe, cost-effective transportation from site to site;
· Assisting with the ground transportation of athletes, coaches and equipment as requested.

Required Qualifications:

· Excellent interpersonal and organizational expertise;
· Ability to work as a team member and independent contributor;
· Background as an accomplished athlete and/or work experience at the divisional or club level as a wax technician;
· High level of fitness in order to assist with ski testing.
