August 20, 2015 (Aure, Norway) – Norway’s Therese Johaug and Didrik Toenseth won the first competition of Toppidrettsveka 2015, a trail run called Fonna Opp. The 5.3km race that runs from Aure to the hill at Fonna, features a total of 652m of climbing.
Toenseth dominated the men’s race with a time of 28:53.3 to set a new trail record. Martin Johansson of Sweden took second at 13 seconds back while the USA’s Noah Hoffman powered to a strong third place finish.
Johaug crushed the ladies field finishing 10th overall with a time of 31:18.8 as she edged out runner up Heidi Weng (NOR) who was 1:38 behind in second. The USA’s Liz Stephen powered to a solid third-place finish.
