Johnson Wins Lake Placid Jumping Meet

October 10, 2007 (Lake Placid, NY) – Olympian Anders Johnson (Park City, UT) and Nick Alexander (Lebanon, NH) dominated the ski jumping over the weekend at the annual Flaming Leaves meet at the Olympic Jumping Complex.

Johnson, a 2006 Olympian, won Saturday’s event with jumps of 101 and 97 meters, good for 263.5 points. Alexander, who trains in Lake Placid with the New York Ski Education Foundation, went 99.5 and 98.5m (257.5 points) for second place and Kyle Lockhart (Barrington, IL) completed the podium in third.

Sunday, Alexander won with Johnson second. Alexander jumped 93.5 and 89.5 meters, compiling 235.0 points. Johnson went 87and 93.5m (233.5). In third place was Blake Hughes (Park City, UT) with 218.0 points off jumps of 86 and 90 meters.

The women’s event each day – the Olympic Regional Development Authority organized Saturday’s competition and NYSEF put on Sunday’s meet – had the same podium: Sarah Hendrickson (also Park City) winning with Tara Geraghty-Moats (West Fairlee, NY) second and Nina Lussi (Lake Placid, NY) third.
