Kikkan Randall Released from Hospital

by skitrax.com
March 30, 2008 (Fairbanks, Alaska) – The US Ski Team’s top sprinter Kikkan Randall decided to have her sore back checked out at the hospital in Fairbanks on Saturday where she was kept overnight for observation and to run tests after it was discovered that a substantial blood clot had formed from her hip down to the back of her knee blocking the return of fluid in her leg.

Randall was treated for DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) and discharged as of 12 noon Alaska time on Sunday. According to her fiancé, Jeff Ellis, Kikkan is “in better spirits”. Her initial back pain after a crash during training a week ago was in fact the early signs of the imbalance in her pelvis and leg area.

Other than the situation with the clot her health is good and she’ll fly back to Anchorage on Monday. We join all of Randall’s family, friends, fans and supporters in wishing her a speedy recovery.
