December 28, 2009 – The USA’s top male xc distance skier has been focused on winning since he first tried to beat his older brother, Justin. Nothing gets in Kris Freeman’s way. Not an older brother, school administrators that won’t let him race the running championships because he’s too young, an NGB with poor financial support, compartment syndrome, or Type I diabetes. Nothing. The focus that it takes to overcome all that, and surpass the expectations of U.S. sports fans, is so intense that often we don’t get more than a glimpse into who Freeman is.
