Lee Churchill Hired as Callaghan Valley Training Centre Head Coach

May 2, 2009 – It is with great pleasure that Cross Country BC announces the hiring of Lee Churchill as Callaghan Valley Training Centre (CVTC)/National Athlete Development Centre Head Coach. Lee will be moving to Whistler, BC in the next few weeks and starting work there in late May, prior to the 2009/10 Training Centre program starting up.

Lee has been head coach of the Newfoundland and Labrador Ski Team for the past four years. Before that he was a National Team Development Centre athlete (1996-2001) and successful competitor whose results include three gold medals at the 1999 Canada Winter Games.

The CVTC is an affiliate of and strong supporter of the National Training Centre Program. In 2009/10 the CVTC will be working in cooperation with Cross Country Canada’s NST coaching staff and Western High Performance Coordinator to ensure it has a training environment and structures that are sustainable and aligned with the national program.

NOTE: The application deadline for athletes wishing to apply to the CVTC has been extended to May 3rd as a result of the above announcement. All skiers interested in applying are encouraged to forward your letter of interest to the CVTC Committee c/o gmanhard@bcinternet.net.
