January 12, 2013 (Liberec, CZE) – The racing is underway in Liberec as three Canadian women advanced to the heats in the women’s 1.3km CL Qualifications lead by Perianne Jones in 7th, followed by Dasha Gaiazova in 10th with Chandra Crawford in 27th. For the US Sadie Bjornsen came closest in 34th (2:13.76) only 0.64s off the pace (2:13.12). Mona-Lisa Malvalehto (FIN) was the fastest woman. For the men only two North Americans qualified lead by the USA’s Andy Newell in 8th followed by Lenny Valjas (CAN) in 16th – Emil Joensson (SWE) topped the men’s field.
