Marit Bjoergen’s Golden Jacket in the Holmenkollen Museum

May 30, 2012 (Norway) – When Marit Bjoergen won the World Championship gold medal number one at Holmenkollen 2011 in the sprint, she also secured Norway’s 100th World Championships title in history. As a reward she got a golden jacket. On 29th May the jacket was unveiled at the Holmenkollen Ski Museum.

“We are very pleased that we chance to exhibit the historic jacket here at the Ski Museum,” the Secretary General of Skiforeningen Bente Lier had said before Marit Bjørgen unveiled the jacket and her skis.

During the last year’s World Ski Championships many Norwegian athletes stepped on the podium in the Swix gold jacket. They were then auctioned to raise money for a good purposes of athlete’s choice. Proceeds from the auction of Marit Bjørgen’s jacket for gold no. 100 was donated to the organization Active Against Cancer.

“It is wonderful that the ski museum can take care of the jacket and it’s fun to be in a museum in the middle of my career,” pleased Marit Bjoergen said.
