March 7, 2008 (McCall, Idaho) – Skiers from 23 countries, with huge delegations from Russia along with the host Americans, fought out the battle of national anthems in the week-long Masters World Cup. The event which featured opposite days of skating and classic racing, in 5-year age brackets, over distances ranging from 5km to 45kms, ended today with rave reviews from all skiers.

In today’s wrap up skating events there were a number of standout American finishes and some extremely tight races such as Laura MCCabe and Leslie Hall, former USST members, being separated by a mere 1.8 seconds after 30km. They are the best of friends and live in Winthrop, WA.

In the Men’s 75-79 15km championship Arnfinn Haugland of Norway was the winner in 54:11.1 and the next four spots were within 9.6 seconds. Other USA winners today in the skating races were Trina Hosmer, Beth Reid, Laura McCabe, Del Pletcher, Jon Engen (USST Comm Chair), Rick Reynolds, and Adam Swank.
