Meraker Peaks Challenge Foiled by Weather

by skitrax.com

July 01, 2010 – Bad weather ran afoul of Hallgeir Martin Lundemo as he and Peter Northug were attempting to set a new Meraker Peaks record.  Lundemo, who already holds the record of 38 hours, 19 minutes and 33 seconds was hoping to set the bar even higher with the help of long-time friend Northug, when a storm forced them off the mountains reports Langrenn.com.

“I was totally cool and did not have a chance to continue when the storm struck. There was thick fog, rain, zero degrees and minimal visibility,” Lundemo told dn.no.

A true mountain hard-man, Lundemo is already plotting his next attempt, saying that he would like to have even more challengers participate in the next campaign against Meraker’s 26 peaks.
