Motivate Canada Seeks Top-Level Athletes to Join Esteem Team

release by Motivate Canada

December 07, 2010 – Olympic, Paralympic or national-level athletes that complete a two-day training session on public speaking to youth will be qualified to conduct Esteem Team presentations in schools within their community and throughout Canada. The next 2-day weekend training session is to take place Edmonton on January 15 – 16, 2011.

“The Esteem Team training seminar is not a “course” where you just sit down and listen. It is a sharing environment of like minded athletes and seasoned speakers where actual talking points are honed and crafted. Their team of trainers share thousands of hours of speaking experience, and provide vivid and practical tips on how to deliver a presentation.” – Josh Vander Vies, Paralympian

“These presentations are extremely rewarding for athletes and students alike. The young people get to meet a world-class athlete and learn HOW to set and achieve their goals”, adds Mark Sluban, Esteem Team Program Manager.

Every year, members of the Esteem Team give 600 presentations to youth throughout Canada, inspiring them to set objectives for themselves and follow their dreams.

“The students were engaged for the 50 minutes that Corey (Robinson) spoke. Corey was energetic, enthusiastic, showed a strong care for the students and of course, focused on the importance of goal setting. I would highly recommend the Esteem Team.” – Jane Lagace – Assistant Principal, Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Edmonton AB)

Current athletes on the Esteem Team Roster from the Prairie Provinces include: Kent Brown (Winnipeg), Rob Cox (Winnipeg), Kia Byers (Regina), Alexandre Dumont (Saskatoon) and Sarah Daitch (Canmore).

Athletes joining the roster will receive an honorarium for their presentations and will be supported by Motivate Canada as they develop their public speaking skills. Space is limited, so those wishing to attend the January training session should register online at www.esteemteam.com and fill out the athlete recruitment form.
