August 1 – Day 2
Sunny skies greeted the skiers today as they worked their way through the bounding intervals at the Michigan tech trails. Bryan Fish (USST) started the group off with foot agility drills that are meant to teach proper forward movement. Running through V-boards spaced close together gradually getting further apart, can help to teach skiers to get their hips and body position forward. It can also teach the benefits of getting triple extension in the ski stride, similarly to when running. The boundingĀ  consisted of rolling terrain of three minute intervals with a recovery loop back down and the focus was on technique.

In the afternoon, the groups attacked a skate rollerski agility course set up inĀ  college parking lot. Slalom, clockwise and counterclockwise circles and starts off the line were the exercises that the skiers practiced for 10 minute sets. Improvements were seen after just one set. Tomorrow distance double pole in the morning and a strength assessment in the afternoon.
