release by Nensa.net

March 14, 2011 (Minneapolis, MN) – A strong week for New England wrapped up the awards ceremony with New England taking home the Alaska Cup and Stratton Mountain School winning the men’s and women’s Roger Weston Awards as the strongest club in the country!

Roger Weston Award

The SMS women had won the women’s title for the past three seasons, the entire history of the award, but this was the first time that the men had been able to wrestle the title away from South Anchorage High School.

The Roger Weston Award honors the top high school boys’ and girls’ cross country ski teams competing at USSA Junior Olympics. The award was initiated to recognize the valuable contribution from high school skiing to the development of cross country ski racing across the USA. Roger Weston was instrumental in developing the sport of cross country skiing in the Mid-Atlantic division and across the US.

This award is provided by the National Cross Country Ski Education Foundation (NCCSEF) and presented annually by the USSA.
