June 07, 2012 – The National Nordic Foundation will invest in excess of $10,000 in two Cross-Country Pillar projects in its summer round of 2012/2013 funding.  These strategic investments in the J2 Talent Camp and the USST International Development camp are made to Support Tomorrow’s Stars Today.

This camp is one of the first steps an athlete takes from local star to national development prospect. This training camp will provide top Junior 2 age-class cross country ski racers with a great opportunity to work with other top J2’s and coaches from across the USA.The National Nordic Foundation’s investment will underwrite much of the camp’s overhead costs thereby reducing the cost for camp participants. Athletes qualified to attend the USSA National J2 Talent Camp based on results from the 2012 US Junior Cross Country Ski Championships. More details on this camp will be provided in coming weeks.

– Men: July 28-Aug 3   Ramsau/Dachstein, Austria, Aug 3-9 Oberhof, Germany
– Women: August 3-6 Oslo Norway, August 6-16 Torsby, Sweden.

The primary goal of these camps is to get the athletes on snow midway through the preparation period, and most goals will be technique-based. The National Nordic Foundation’s investment will offset some athlete’s travel expenses thereby reducing the personal cost for many of the athletes.  Primary funding for the camps will come from USST with a significant additional investment to the men’s camp from the Oregon Nordic Ski Foundation.

More details on these camps will be provided in coming weeks.
