Nordic Combined Takes Flight – The Triple is Here!

January 15, 2014 – This weekend, Nordic Combined history will be made when the first-ever Nordic Combined Triple champion is crowned. The newest event is sure to push the athletes to the limit in the three-day stage competition.

The Triple aims to crown the best all-around Nordic Combined athlete. Day one includes one ski jump and a 5 km prologue, designed to give sprinters a chance to shine. A standard Individual Gundersen competition will keep the athletes busy on Day Two. On the third and final day of competitin, it will be test of sheer will and endurance as the athletes will complete two jumps and a 15 km race.

All athletes are allowed to start in the prologue on the first day of action. But that number will be trimmed down to just the Top 50 of the prologue on Day Two. The grand finale on Sunday will feature only the Top 30 athletes in the standings after two competitions, as the field is further cut to include only the best of the best. On Sunday, the first athlete to cross the finish line in the 15 km cross-country race will be the first-ever Nordic Combined Triple champion.

Up for grabs is not only the honour of being the first Triple champion, but also double the number of standard World Cup points and a large portion of the total 100.000 € prize money.

The Austrian venue of Seefeld, will serve as the host for the historic competition. The Organising Committee has prepared everything meticulously, despite not having a massive amount of snow. th January 2014 with the first ski jumping competition.
