November 24, 2010 – Top ranked xc skier Petter Northug (NOR), the reigning FIS World Cup XC title holder, will miss round two this weekend in Kuusamo, Finland, his second no-show since leaving the Beitostoelen season opener in Norway early due to illness reports fiscrosscountry.com. While Northug’s medical tests check out and the 24-year-old Olympic medalist is back to training, he will not return to racing just yet. Citing that his major goal of the season is the Nordic World Championships in Oslo, Northug will take some time to train and get re-focused before returning to competition.
