June 11, 2012 (Trondheim, Norway) – Norway’s sport council that gathered in Trondheim last weekend said yes to the application process of the Winter Olympic Games in Oslo 2022. The council gave its board a clear mandsate with 142 votes in favor and only 15 against to proceed with the application process of the Winter Olympic Games in Oslo 2022.
Norway’s sport associations agreed that Olympic games would be important event to further develop Norwegian sport and new generation of athletes and volunteers. Norway’s sports council has particularly in focus regional sports development. The council also emphasized the importance of environmental responsibility andIn case of receiving the Olympics in 2022 Oslo organizers could benefit from experience from the Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer 2016.
One of Oslo’s competitors to host the Olympics was already known in May as the Swiss Sport Associations gave the green light to Graubünden to continue with the bidding process for the Winter Olympics in 2022.
