August 13, 2008 – The Sims family hosted the 3rd Annual Oil Creek State Park Summer Biathlon outside of Rouseville, Pennsylvania on Saturday, August 9. Fifty-one athletes competed…making this the largest field in the three-year history of the event.

Stephanie Blackstone and Doug Hoover each captured their respective race titles. Blackstone (Everett, PA) broke the previous
course record set last year by Katie Sick. Blackstone shot just one penalty and recorded a time of 25:19 (eclipsing the previous record by 2:31). Meanwhile, Sick (Millville, PA) and Hilary Saucy (Harleysville, PA) finished second and third, respectively. Sick shot clean for the first time in her young career, while Saucy shot one penalty and continued to show improved strength on the run. Ann Sick (Millville, PA) finished fourth overall and captured the masters
title.

Hoover (Williamsburg, PA) shot clean enroute to posting a margin of 2:12 over runner-up Alden Sims (Venus, PA), who shot 6 penalties. Adam Gill (Oil City, PA) shot two penalties and finished third. Paul Harkins (Maineville, OH) finished eighth overall and captured the masters title.
